Yoshi Model Sheet
Yoshi was tricky. Would I have the talking dinosaur? Would I have the one in my comic which was civilization intelligent, but only said it's name (this was years before Pokemon mind you). In the end I decided to go another way entirely, having Yoshis intelligent, but in a different sense. In my Mushroom Kingdom, yoshis are beasts of burden, found in the wild, and intelligent. Not intelligent enough to build houses mind you, but in the way that horses are intelligent. The Mushroom Kingdom uses them as workers and traveling companions. The Princess's elite Toad Patrol uses the most purebreed yoshis and best accomplished riders. Thier helmets are an early design of the MK Toad Hats, and when I thought of the Toad Riders I used the design to help with the streamlining of the riders when crouched down. No closer bond in the Kingdom there is but the Mushroom Kingdom Toad Patrol and his yoshi.
